We have just returned from Christchurch. A visit to our furniture maker was one of the highlights of the trip. The earthy smell of the raw timber combined with watching the furniture making process was wonderful. To watch dedicated craftspeople at work was a real treat. The highlight was watching a large piece of oak for a solid top table being sanded. It took three men to manoeuvre the piece with the aid of a trolley, but it was obvious from the skillful way they handled the work they had done this job before.
When visiting Christchurch we need to make the decision whether to drive or fly because it is 5 hours by car one way. This time we drove and were rewarded yet again by Lake Pukaki and Mt Cook. We are so lucky to live in the South Island of New Zealand. It was difficult to stop oggling this stunning sight and continue our drive home
